Robots All Around Us

You might not realise it, but robots are all around us. They are in our homes, schools, parks, and even in our skies.

Some examples include:

  1. In our homes: Apart from robotic vacuum cleaners, there are robotic mowers to trim your grass, and even toy robots for kids to play and learn from.
  2. In our schools: We have robots like LEGO Spike Prime, which helps us learn about coding and robotics.
  3. In our parks: Drones flying in the sky, remotely controlled by someone, or even operating on their own through programmed instructions.
  4. In our skies: Satellites in space are robots too! They gather information about our planet and send it back to us.

Tip: Look closely at the technology around you. Can you spot any robots in action?

Questions:

  1. Can you find a robot in your own house? What tasks does it perform?
  2. Why do you think robots are used at schools?
  3. If you could have a personal robot, what tasks would you like it to perform for you?

Remember, robots perform various tasks and make our life easier. And the best part? We can also learn to program and control them!

Bring Your Robot to life with Coding

Imagine your LEGO Spike Prime kit as a superhero toy. On its own, it’s just a bunch of plastic and metal pieces that look cool but can’t do much. Just like a superhero needs a mission to save the day, your robot needs special instructions, or a “mission,” to come to life and do amazing things. These instructions are called code. Without code, robots are a bit like our superhero on a day off—just hanging around and not doing much. They don’t know how to move, solve problems, or help us out. By learning to program or code your robot, you’re giving it the superpowers it needs to complete missions, solve puzzles, and maybe even clean up your room! So, let’s turn these pieces of plastic and metal into real-life superheroes with the magic of coding!
